I am proud to announce that VMware Australia has once again been cited by the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. 2019 marks the fifth year in a row that VMware has been awarded the citation, and we are one of a handful of companies to have achieved the citation year on year. The citation recognises our commitment to workplace gender equality and reflects our continued efforts to grow inclusion and diversity in our working environment, practices and policies.
Trends among recipients this year include:
- entrenching organisation-wide flexible work practices
- tailored parental leave policies to support use by women and men
- programs to increase women in leadership
- initiatives to support women to return to work
- robust analysis and correction of gender pay gaps
We have made changes for the better in all these areas in the past year and will continue to focus on this significant issue as we move through 2019 and beyond.
Thank you to every member of our team who has made this possible and supported our belief in the power of equality and diversity. VMware’s active Diversity & Inclusion Council is one of the many internal initiatives dedicated to driving equality and inclusion for all in the VMware workplace. Our dedicated D&I team includes more than 60 people across the country who focus on fostering and promoting an inclusive community that values and celebrates human difference right across our organisation.
By taking these important steps, there are obvious benefits to our people, our customers, partners and global colleagues and we accelerate innovation and success through our business. Harnessing the power of human difference means we can make genuine change and above and beyond all of this, it’s just the right thing to do.
I congratulate our entire team on this important milestone and commit to maintaining focus in the year ahead.
